Family Prom 2022

A Walk on The Wild Side

As part of the 2022 Welsh Proms season at St David’s Hall, Arts Active is presenting a Family Prom for young and old alike at 3:00 pm on Sunday 10th July. This animal-infused prom will feature music from Jurassic Park, The Elephant from Saint-Saëns’ Carnival of the Animals, Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Flight of the Bumblebee and family favourite Peter and the Wolf, narrated by Mike Church.

This hour-long concert will be played by Cardiff Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Michael Bell MBE. For more information and to book tickets please visit the Saint David’s Hall website: https://www.stdavidshallcardiff.co.uk/whats-on/welsh-proms-2022/family-prom/

Family Prom Fun

Arts Active has produced a range of fun activities to enhance your Family Prom experience. Listen to our playlist to familiarise yourself with some of the music, learn more about Peter and the Wolf with our activity pack or why not make one of our Peter and the Wolf masks and wear it to the prom?!

The activities are suitable for ages 5 and up, with something for all the family to enjoy!

Mask Making

Would you like to be the wolf or the cat, or perhaps the duck, in Peter’s story? Click here to learn how to make Peter and the Wolf animal masks: https://artsactive.org.uk/slug/mask-making/

Now wear them in style to the Family Prom!

Storytelling and Animal Acting

Has Prokofiev’s classic tale of Peter and the Wolf inspired you to create your own story? Or perhaps you’ve been inspired by some of his animals! Try out your storytelling and acting skills with Kieron Rees as he talks you through how to come up with ideas and create your own story and shows you how to develop characters using animal exercises.
