Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama
A GCSE Music Professional Development session to support teachers delivering WJEC GCSE Music. This event will focus on the Unit 3 prepared extracts ‘Handbags and Gladrags’ and ‘Rondeau: Purcell’. Designed and led by Owain Gethin Davies the music will be brought alive by musicians from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

The aim of this Skills Not Frills Art session will be to give primary school teachers confidence in using a range of visual arts skills with a view to them employing them in their own teaching setting and key stage.
Participants will engage with 3D and 2D artistic practise alongside ‘Arts Champion’ teachers who have many years experience working with children delivering the art and design curriculum. There will be opportunities to look at influences, ideas, materials as well as tools and skills. Expect your inner artist to be awakened in a safe supportive environment.

Sherman Theatre
Join us to watch this co-production between two of Wales’ renowned producing theatres, Sherman Theatre & Theatr Clwyd. We’ll be hearing experiences of bringing literature alive in the classroom before seeing this exciting adaption on stage at the Sherman Theatre. Post show panel discussion taking its provocation from the themes stemming from the production.

Participants must be able to attend all three days.
These sessions will form a three – day course taking a practical approach to bringing contemporary art into schemes of work, how to begin looking at an exhibition and where to research and broaden knowledge around contemporary art both locally and regionally.
The three-day course will take place in the major contemporary art spaces in Cardiff – Chapter, Artes Mundi at National Museum Cardiff and g39. The facilitating artists include Holly Davey, Anthony Shapland, Gweni Llwyd, Freya Dooley, Thomas Williams and Louise Hobson.

This workshop has been devised by A2 Connect’s Music Champions and will be an easily accessible and enjoyable day of training. It will be suitable for non-specialist Primary teachers to support their use of music as part of their creative practise in the classroom.
Opportunity will be provided to develop and gain confidence in all aspects of music making, including performing, composing and appraising across the curriculum. You will also have an opportunity to observe the choir perform and gain some top tips for your return to school.
The aim of the course is to provide an understanding of the role that music will play in preparation for the new curriculum.
