Are you an aspiring young musician aged 14-18, living in Wales? 

Do you want to develop your skills in composition, instrumentation and arranging?

In conjunction with the Cardiff Classical Series at St David’s Hall, this term’s Arts Active Young Composers course will be guided by Welsh composer Sarah Lianne Lewis, who is currently Composer Affiliate with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. Sarah is the youngest and first ever  female composer to hold  such a residency with the orchestra and we at Arts Active are delighted to have Sarah on board. 

For this term’s course participants will focus on learning to compose for trumpet, clarinet, violin, double bass and percussion alongside UPROAR ensemble.

At the end of this FREE four-day course, you will be able to hear your composition played live by the musicians. The performance will be recorded and sent out for you to keep and include in any portfolio you may be building for school or university.
