Summer Music Lab

10:30AM - 3:00PM
Chapter Arts Centre

Music Lab is an opportunity to explore the possibilities of music technology as a means of creating, recording, and editing music.

The workshops are targeted at 14 – 18 yrs and are currently FREE to attend.  The sessions run one Saturday per month and are open to any young person who has an enthusiasm for music and a creative mind. The sessions will expand your composition boundaries and production techniques.

Music Lab will be led by tutor Will Frampton, together with a selection of special guest musicians. Participants will create soundscapes together with the musicians, using traditional musical instruments as well other sound sources, such as found sound and voice, to create experimental music and sound art. Apps, synthesisers, loops and other elements of sound recording and editing will also be used and participants are also welcome to bring their own instruments. There will be no barriers to what you can create!

Music Lab one of our projects as part of the Young Creatives programme which is a diverse, exploratory, innovative and experimental programme of activity, with and for young people. Whatever the artform, at the heart of our ‘young creatives’ programme is the desire to encourage arts-led inquiry, and offer the means to discover and enhance a language of self expression in participants.
