Soundworks, our term-time music-making workshops for adults with learning disabilities and autism, are currently held at Better Cardiff Western Leisure Centre. These inclusive sessions encourage participants to explore sounds, rhythms and instruments in an informal, accessible and safe space. During the sessions, participants explore the fundamental building blocks of music with the support and encouragement of their carers. The sessions also provide an opportunity for carers to develop skills in using music to build up their clients’ levels of social interaction, communication skills and confidence.  

A creative space that is fun, friendly and free to attend!

There are two sessions: 11am – 12.30pm & 1pm – 2:30pm.

Sessions take place at Western Leisure Centre, Ely, Cardiff.

Soundworks YOUTH 

Music has such a powerful impact on development. Our Soundworks Youth programme offers regular music making sessions for children with additional learning needs, currently within mainstream schools, and their access bases / specialist resource bases. 

By working on musical building blocks and fostering skills like hand-eye coordination and cognitive abilities, these sessions also help enhance social interactions, the development of friendships, self-awareness, self-esteem and independence. Teachers and support staff are actively involved throughout and gain new music-making skills as well as a greater understanding of how engaging with music can help enrich and enhance their pupils’ lives and positively impact on their social and developmental milestones.
