Out of Doors: LIVE this Summer

Out of Doors is back and it’s LIVE!

Situated on the green  of City Hall

Cardiff Council’s  “Summer of Smiles” – Children and Young People’s Summer Festival!

Festival Site; Tuesday 20th July- Sunday 8th August 2021

This follows the huge success of Out of Doors in July 2020 – a digital online festival that Arts Active launched in response to the pandemic and, where remote learning had become fundamental for young people during long periods of lockdown. In the last year we had become increasingly aware just how important access to creative opportunities for young people’s health and well being  had become. Nature and being out of doors (safely) could feed and nourish that creativity and of course, continues to do so.

We are therefore delighted to announce that Out of Doors will now be LIVE, with a full packed programme of creative opportunities for children and young people to participate in as part of the #summerofsmiles. The 3 week programme will run on the site of City Hall from Tuesday 20th July-Sunday 8th August.

As part of Cardiff City’s pandemic recovery, summer activities for children and teenagers are being held across the city. This is an accessible and inclusive programme of events designed to encourage children to play, move and actively enjoy themselves after long periods of lockdown and distance learning. https://www.childfriendlycardiff.co.uk/

This is a fantastic opportunity for us to be part of and to celebrate,  and show support for the valiant efforts of many young people who have adapted  their learning in these unprecedented times. We have therefore devised and designed numerous creative arts activities specifically for young people to enjoy and have fun with.

The 3 week Out of Doors LIVE festival programme will include:

Portrait Pod, Roll up, Roll up and have your portrait captured by our talented professional artists in our portable studio!

Baby Rave, some of Cardiff’s finest DJ’s will provide a morning mix up to get your mind working and your body shaking.  Suitable for toddlers, under 6’s and their adults.

An eclectic mix of visual art workshops–  cardboard animals, stitch it for teenagers, bird head-dresses and puppets, paint what you hear. Create your own positive postcards with the artist’s fun illustrative  stamps. These can be shared with family and friends who have not been seen for a long while during this period, or can simply be kept for themselves.

Fun dance sessions, on- site artists in residence and  eco- friendly workshops,

A series of TWILIGHT sessions for young people around self organising, peer mentoring & community space. Plus More!

We are so excited to be part of this children and young people’s festival, and what a way to celebrate and thank the young people of Cardiff.

Tickets to the festival site can be booked via Summer of Smiles; https://www.childfriendlycardiff.co.uk/summer-of-smiles/
