Welcome to the NetworkCroeso i’r Rhwydwaith

Welcome to A2: Connect and welcome to our blog. We like to think of it as a noticeboard/scrapbook/newsletter/virtual coffeeshop/library, but it can be whatever the artists, educators, schools and arts organisations that gather here, want to make of it.

A2:Connect is the Arts & Education Network for Central South region (that’s the Merthyr, Rhondda Cynon Taff, Cardiff, Vale of Glamorgan and Bridgend council areas).  The network is led and managed by the Arts Active Trust on behalf of the Arts Connect Consortium (which is made up of council arts development departments and associated Charitable Trusts from the region).

This structure means that we’re tapping into the contacts and experience of the region’s arts development teams from the very start, as well as the collective knowledge and experience of the arts and education community they are already working with.  With so much experience behind us, we hope that the network is going to be a fantastic driver for arts & education work in the area and raise the profile of new and old activity alike.

We were initiated as part of the Wales-wide strand of Creative Learning Through The Arts – The Arts Council Wales and Welsh government action plan for new opportunities for children and young people across Wales. It’s an exciting and important time for arts and creativity in schools.  We see the plan as an incredible opportunity to build on the great work that’s been going on for some time, and to create opportunities for artists and teachers for the changes in the Welsh curriculum in 2020.

Our role is to increase and improve arts experiences and opportunities in schools.  We aim to achieve this by forging links between:

  • teachers, educationalists and partners from the education sector
  • arts practitioners, arts organisations and venues
  • cultural and heritage organisations and venues such as museums, libraries and archives
  • local authority arts providers, including music services
  • higher education arts and cultural partners;
  • the creative industries sector.

In a nutshell we hope to create as many opportunities as possible to get people involved in the arts and education in the same room (be that digital or the type with a floor and ceiling) to share, learn and explore through conversations, collaborations and shared experiences.

We’re hoping this blog will be one of the ways we do that.

The A2 Team.Croeso i A2: Clymu a chroeso i’n blog. Mae’n dda gennym ni feddwl amdano fel hysbysfwrdd/llyfr lloffion/llythyr newyddion/tafarn goffi rithwir/llyfrgell, ond gall fod yn beth fyw fyth y mae’r artistiaid, yr addysgwyr, yr ysgolion a’r cyrff yn y celfyddydau sy’n dod at ei gilydd yma, yn mynnu iddo fod.

Rhwydwaith Celf ac Addysg ardal y Canol De ydi A2:Clymu (sef ardaloedd cynghorau Merthyr, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Caerdydd, Bro Morgannwg a Phen-y-bont ar Ogwr).   Ymddiriedolaeth Actifyddion Artistig sy’n arwain ac yn rheoli’r rhwydwaith ar ran Consortiwm Clymu’r Celfyddydau (sef adrannau datblygu’r celfyddydau cynghorau ac Ymddiriedolaethau Elusennol cysylltiedig).

Mae’r saernïaeth yma’n golygu bod gennym at ein defnydd gysylltiadau a phrofiad timau datblygu’r celfyddydau’r rhanbarth o’r cychwyn cyntaf, yn ogystal â gwybodaeth a phrofiad ar y cyd cymuned y celfyddydau ac addysg y maen nhw’n gweithio gyda nhw eisoes.   A chennym gymaint o brofiad y tu ôl i ni, gobeithio y bydd y rhwydwaith yn yrrwr tan gamp gwaith celfyddydau ac addysg yn yr ardal ac y bydd yn rhoi lle amlycach i weithgaredd, yn hen a newydd fel ei gilydd.

Fe’n cychwynnwyd yn rhan o gainc rhaglen addysg Cymru gyfan Dysgu Creadigol drwy’r Celfyddydau – cynllun gweithredu Cyngor Celfyddydau Cymru a llywodraeth Cymru ar gyfer cyfleoedd newydd i blant a phobol ifanc ledled Cymru. Mae’n adeg gyffrous a phwysig i’r celfyddydau a chreadigedd mewn ysgolion.   Gwelwn y cynllun yn gyfle anhygoel i ddefnyddio’n sylfaen y gwaith ardderchog sydd ar droed ers peth amser, ac i greu cyfleoedd i artistiaid ac athrawon i’r newidiadau yng nghwricwlwm Cymru yn 2020.

Ein rôl ydi cynyddu a gwella profiadau a chyfleoedd yn y celfyddydau mewn ysgolion.   Ein hamcan ydi cyflawni hyn drwy feithrin cysylltiadau rhwng

  • athrawon, addysgwyr a phartneriaid o’r sector addysg
  • ymarferwyr y celfyddydau, cyrff y celfyddydau ac oedfannau
  • cyrff diwylliannol a threftadaeth ac oedfannau megis amgueddfeydd, llyfrgelloedd ac archifau
  • darparwyr celfyddydau awdurdodau lleol, gan gynnwys gwasanaethau cerddoriaeth
  • partneriaid celfyddydau a diwylliannol addysg uwch;
  • sector y diwydiannau creadigol.

Yn gryno, rydym yn gobeithio creu cynifer o gyfleoedd ag y bo modd i gael gan bobol fod yn rhan o’r celfyddydau ac addysg yn yr un ystafell (boed hi’n ddigidol ynteu’r math a chanddi lawr a nenfwd) i rannu, i ddysgu ac i chwilio drwy sgyrsiau, cydweithrediadau a phrofiadau ar y cyd. Gobeithio y bydd y blog yma’n un o’r ffyrdd y gwnawn hynny.
