A very busy Spring so far…

What a great start 2021 has been for all of our projects and we are really pleased that we can keep running all of these great opportunities through online formats. We wanted to give you a quick update on what each of our projects has been up to….

Our International Concert Series Extras programme so far has shared new Roadmap talks, new episodes of our Upbeats series of podcasts, and our popular Young Composers course for 14 – 18 year olds ran again during February half-term. We have more Roadmap Talks, Upbeats Podcasts, Melodies and Maestros Education Packs, and more still to come this Spring.

Criw Celf has been running weekend workshops every Saturday since January and have just finished our February Half term courses all online.
The courses have been sharing a range of creative skills and activities led by artists such as mini paper objects, graffiti, transfer collage, photography, mobile phone making, sculpture, drawing, illustrating with collage and learning how to be a Games Master for role playing games,
Artists have included Tom Burmeister, Bill Chambers, Carl Chapple, Lucy Dickson, Mohammed Hassan,  Claire Hiett, Kyle Legall, Jon Ratigan,  Alyn Smith, Tomos Sparnon, Aron Evans.
These courses will continue with Graphic Design Principles with Designer Nic Finch, Colouring inside the Lines with Illustrator Julia Bethan, Surface Pattern with Jenna Clark, Here and there with performance artist Jenny Cashmore and Recycle Music with Puppet maker Mandy Fancourt.

Our wonderful Soundworks team are still bringing you weekly videos which are streamed live on our YouTube channel on Tuesdays between 1:30pm and 2:15pm where you can join in or sit back, relax and listen. These sessions are aimed at adults with learning and physical disabilities and the live streams are run in place of our regular Tuesday workshops which usually run at St David’s Hall.Find links to all our sessions here:

Soundworks – Arts Active


Open Orchestra will be bringing you monthly videos and resources encouraging you to get moving, get music making and to enjoy stories through active listening. Our first video for this term was released this month and you can check it out, and all our resources from last year here: Open Orchestras – Arts Active


Our adult Gamelan group Cardiff Gamelan is still meeting on a Tuesday evening, and has been since March 2020, where we are working on composing new gamelan pieces ready for when we can return to St David’s Hall and to our gamelan instruments.

Our Tiddly Prom team are working behind the scenes on our Summer activities to entertain your little ones. We are busy planning, writing, composing, filming, and recording ready to release lot’s of exciting new content for you during June and July 2021.
