CALL OUT: PROJECT SUPPORT ASSISTANT

Cardiff Classical Series – Arts Active

We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic individual to join our Cardiff Classical Series team as a Project Support Assistant, helping to deliver engaging, in-person music workshops for young people across the community.

These workshops bring classical and experimental music into accessible, inclusive settings, offering new opportunities for young people to explore composition and different sound worlds.

We are seeking someone who’s passionate about working with young people and supporting creative learning experiences.

Role Responsibilities

As a Project Support Assistant, you will play a key role in the smooth running of the workshops. Your responsibilities will include:
• Setting up and packing down workshop space
• Welcoming and guiding tutors and participants to the correct spaces
• Ensuring all tutors and participants are aware of relevant workshop or venue protocols
• Supporting the tutor during sessions as needed
• Providing feedback to Arts Active on each session (e.g. number of participants, workshop content, any issues or highlights, feedback from tutors/participants)
• Where appropriate, capturing photos or video to help document the workshops
• Reporting directly to the Deputy Community, Learning and Partnerships Manage

What We’re Looking For

Essential
• Friendly, approachable, and professional manner
• Experience working with children and young people
• Willing and able to undergo a DBS check (we can arrange this if not already held)
• Interest in classical and/or experimental music
• Flexible availability, including some weekend work
• Willingness to undertake training where necessary (e.g. Child Protection, Health & Safety)
• Ability to work across different Cardiff locations
• Proactive and solutions-focused attitude
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
• Be over the age of 18 years

Desirable Skills & Experience
• Experience working with neurodivergent young people
• Background in music or music education
• Experience supporting or delivering music-based workshops
• Welsh language skills (spoken or written)

Example Working Hours
• One Saturday per month: 9:30am – 3:30pm
• One week per academic term: Monday–Thursday, 9:30am – 2:00pm

This role primarily runs from October 2025 to July 2026, with the potential for ongoing opportunities in future Cardiff Classical Series programmes.
